A lash lift is the process of curling your natural lashes from root to tip using a curling rod and lifting solutions. All lashes have a natural shape, some people’s lashes may be long and straight, while others may have more of a curve. Lash lifting boosts and lifts each individual lash, and when combined with a tint gives the eyes a more open look with the lashes appearing longer, darker and fuller.
A lash lift and tint generally takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour. First, silicone pads are placed onto closed eyelids, right above the lash line. Using a water-based glue the lashes are curled onto the rod and spaced evenly to ensure the end result does not look clumpy, then the first serum is applied. This first step is used to break down the protein within the lashes, so they can be moulded. Next, a keratin-based serum is applied to restore and condition the lashes and set them into their new curled shape. The tint is then applied to darken the lashes and the silicon pads are removed.
If done properly, lash lifts will not damage your natural lashes. An aftercare serum is usually recommended to promote lash growth and keep them strengthened.
A lash lift and tint will generally last between 6-8 weeks, or however long your natural lash cycle is. Once your lifted lashes have naturally fallen out and new growth is all that remains, it is time to rebook.
Absolutely! Mascara enhances the results of a lash lift, however it is important to avoid wearing it for at least 24 hours after the treatment – as this could effect the results of the treatment.
One of the main benefits of a lash lift is it is extremely low maintenance. A nourishing serum will encourage lash growth and fullness and daily use should be recommended. Things like swimming, makeup and makeup remover can all be recommenced 24 hours after a lash lift.
